Milkyway by Manasseh Johnson Sr. combines a stylized portrait with angular lines and bold fields of color. The face turns toward the left beneath a dark, textured-looking hair silhouette, while a purple upper background meets pink, orange and blue sections behind the elongated neck.
Realistic-looking eyes and lips contrast with the narrow geometric divisions crossing the face. The changing shapes guide the eye from the expressive features down through the portrait's long, sharply defined contours.
